Here, where the Lech still runs wild, reshaping its riverbed every day, rare plants and animals also feel at home.
Unspoilt, beautiful and ever-changing
With its turquoise wild river and crystal-clear spring lakes, vast alluvial forests and wild orchids, this landscape is unspoilt, beautiful and ever-changing. Interesting facts about the Tiroler Lech Nature Park
The Tiroler Lech Nature Park is a unique ecological nature reserve. Covering an area of 40 square kilometres, it is home to about a third of all plants found in Tyrol, 150 bird species and many other animals. These include many endangered animal and plant species that thrive under the protection of species conservation and preservation programmes.
Along the "last wild river", as the Lech is also called, there are also over 1,600 hectares of alluvial forest. That's more than all of the rest of Tyrol put together.
The Tiroler Lech Nature Park is one of five nature parks in Tyrol. It stretches from the Lech Valley across the entire Reutte nature park region.
